Overview
Lab-grade PQ index in the team's routine
Benchtop instrument that uses electromagnetic induction to quantify the total large ferromagnetic particles in a 2 mL oil sample, with no pretreatment or solvents. Suited for both on-site and oil-monitoring laboratory use.
What it measures
What it measures
PQ index
0–15000 PQ
Total ferromagnetic particle content, with 1 PQ resolution (0.1 average).
Method
ASTM D8184
Electromagnetic induction, no pretreatment and no solvents.
Speed
< 10 s per sample
One data point every 5 seconds, on the 8-inch touch screen.
How it works
Measurement principle
Electromagnetic induction: the coil-field change caused by the sample's ferromagnetic particles generates the PQ index.
1
Sample in the port2 mL of oil or grease in the standard bottle, straight onto the turntable.
2
Electromagnetic inductionFerromagnetic particles change the coil's magnetic field.
3
Linear relationshipThe signal tracks iron debris content and sample granulometry.
4
PQ indexThe result comes out in seconds, with high sensitivity and repeatability.
How to use
From the case to the result, no fuss
1
Power on and warm upLet the instrument warm up for about 10 minutes for stable readings.
2
Calibrate when neededThe screen guides calibration with the 0 PQ and 750 PQ standard samples.
3
Prepare the sampleHomogenize the oil, pipette 2 mL into the standard bottle and let it settle for a few minutes, depending on viscosity.
4
MeasurePlace the bottle in the detection port and read the PQ index in seconds.
5
Save and follow upResults and trends stay on the 8-inch screen, ready to export.

Common questions
FAQ
Does it need solvents or pretreatment?
No. The 2 mL sample goes straight into the instrument, with no chemical preparation.
Field or laboratory?
Both. It suits industrial environments as well as oil monitoring laboratories.
How does it differ from the portable model?
This is the benchtop model: wide 0–15000 PQ range, ASTM D8184 method and an 8-inch screen. The Portable Ferrous Debris Monitor covers 0–5500 PQ with full mobility.
