Measurement principle
Light-blockage (photoresistance) principle: counts and sizes solid particles crossing an optical beam.

Flow through the optical cellOil passes through the sensor at 10–300 mL/min (25 mL/min recommended).

The standard that expresses oil cleanliness from particle counts by size. The sensor delivers the ISO 4406 grade directly, plus NAS 1638 and GJB420A/B.
