Particle Counter Sensor
Overview

Oil cleanliness watched inside the circuit itself

Based on the light-blockage principle, measures size, quantity and contamination level of solid particles in real time, with high resolution and repeatability.

What it measures

What it measures

Solid particles

1–100 µm / 4–70 µm (c)

Size, quantity and distribution of particles in the flow.

Cleanliness level

ISO 4406 · NAS 1638 · GJB420A/B

Contamination grade computed by the built-in standards.

Repeatability

RSD < 5%

Stable readings with strong immunity to interference.

How it works

Measurement principle

Light-blockage (photoresistance) principle: counts and sizes solid particles crossing an optical beam.
1
Flow through the optical cellOil passes through the sensor at 10–300 mL/min (25 mL/min recommended).
2
Light blockageA diode laser lights the flow and each particle blocks the beam.
3
Counting and sizingBlockage becomes size counts and a contamination grade.
4
OutputResults over RS485 MODBUS RTU or ASCII, every 5–60 s.

Common questions

FAQ

What is the ISO 4406 code?
The standard that expresses oil cleanliness from particle counts by size. The sensor delivers the ISO 4406 grade directly, plus NAS 1638 and GJB420A/B.
How often does it measure?
The detection period is adjustable from 5 to 60 seconds, in continuous operation.
Where is it applied?
Hydraulic systems, turbines, aviation and transformers, among other critical circuits.
Which fluids does it monitor?
Hydraulic, lubricating, transformer (insulating), turbine, gear and engine oil, aviation kerosene and water-based hydraulic fluids, plus organic liquids and polymer solutions.
